New Year’s day 2018…revisiting this Peace Corps site to remember and honor Beth. She was like a godmother to my little daughter who was at the time two years old. Sara is now 26, married and living happily in Costa Rica. I know Beth would be happy. I wish well to Amy her daughter and hope she has formed a peaceful life. One never stops missing their mother.
2017. So many years since Beth left and I know she is still here with me, inspiring me and motivating me to continue the mission of educating the children of Costa Rica. Gail Nystrom
I will remember that time forever. I am the one in the picture up above…we are putting her ashes into the ground at one of the schools where she worked. I think that Beth is with me every day as I continue to work here in Costa Rica. I remember all those guys who searched day and night to find her alive …Very sad for her and for her lovely daughter Amy.
Well, I didn’t know Elizabeth in person but I was one of the guys who rescued her body from the mountain . To her family and friends I’m deeply sorry for your lost, it’s been 16 years since she died and I still feels like yesterday and I don’t know why but I think about that day every single day.
Vinicio,
I am still here in Costa Rica working in La Carpio and setting up preschol classrooms for underserved children. I do a lot of this in the name of Beth. Also, other people who have died here and were helped so much by the Red Cross and the OIJ.
