Ronald McDearman

Ronald G. McDearman passed away March 21, 2002 after a long illness. Ron was injured in a fall in Nairobi, Kenya while serving in the Peace Corps June 2001. He had been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to extend his stay as a professor at the University of Nairobi for the following year.

Ron was born in Abilene, Texas November 3, 1936. A graduate of Abilene High School, Abilene Christian University and from SMU Law School in 1966. He practiced law in Dallas, until his move to Mesa, Arizona in 1994, where he joined the Peace Corps for service in Africa.

Ron married Sandra Dobbs from Oklahoma City in 1974 and his only son, Michael David McDearman was born July 28, 1975.

He is survived by his son, Michael David of Dallas; father and mother, John C. and Frances McDearman, longtime residents of Abilene; and a brother, Rusty; sister-in-law, Jayne; and nephews, Bryan and Eric McDearman of Dallas.

By his wishes, Ron's ashes were laid to rest in Abilene, TX beside his younger brother, Mickey, who passed away in 1941.
